Pricing Change
As you may already be aware, handling charges were introduced by CFAR over 10 years ago in order to offset some off the cost of reagent propagation, storage and acquisition. Since 2007 these charges have remained unaltered. Regretfully due to the current limited opportunities for additional grant funding it has become necessary for these charges to be increased with effect from the 1st October 2011. Nevertheless, we recognise that CFAR frequently provides reagents to scientists with limited budgets and therefore there is a need to keep the costs of obtaining materials as low as possible. Please be assured that we remain committed to providing reagents at minimal costs to researchers.

CAN I USE MY OWN COURIER AND COURIER ACCOUNT NUMBER?
Because of difficulties we have experienced in using a number of Couriers, it is NIBSC policy not to book couriers using customers’ own account numbers. If you wish to use your own courier account, you need to arrange for the collection of your order from NIBSC by your courier. We will provide you or your courier with a date for collection.
Please Note: In view of heightened air security, some carriers will not collect packages from NIBSC if the collection as not been arranged by NIBSC staff.
DELIVERY CHARGE
We continue to monitor our shipment charges to ensure that our packages are dispatched in a cost effective manner.
We use a network of couriers, with whom we have developed a good relationship, and they are often able to top up dry ice in the event of a delay in transit.
Where the actual cost is being passed on to the recipient CFAR will obtain a quote from our preferred courier and inform the recipient of the shipment price prior to dispatch of the reagent. There is no obligation to continue with the order once the quotation is obtained.
Members of Europrise, NGIN & GHRC-CAVD will regretfully be required to pay shipping and handling costs which have previously been waived and should now provide purchase order information on their completed order form.

Invoices for reagents will be raised and sent to you 2-4 weeks after the dispatch of materials. Payment should be made within 30 working days from receipt of the invoice. Methods of payment are given on the reverse of the invoice. When making payment, all bank charges are payable by the originator.
VAT is relevant to EU customers only and is the UK equivalent to the TVA, BTW, MVD, MWS, OTIA and IVA charged in other EU Member States. It is not charged on exports outside the European Union.
For non-UK customers in EU Member States: If your VAT number is not supplied, NIBSC has to charge UK VAT (currently 20%). UK VAT can be reclaimed from your VAT authority.
For UK customers: VAT is charged unless you have supply us with a certificate of exemption from the VAT authority at the point of ordering reagents.
PLEASE ENSURE THE VAT ZERO RATING CERTIFICATE IS ENCLOSED WITH EACH REAGENT RELEASE AGREEMENT OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE CHARGED VAT.
