Welcome to the Centre for AIDS Reagents Catalogue of Reagents. Originally established in 1989, the facility has grown steadily and the repository now houses over 4200 reagents. Reagents are shipped to the UK, mainland Europe and to countries as far afield as China, Australia, South Africa and Argentina. The primary objective of the facility is to assist and support the HIV/AIDS research community through the provision of high quality, basic and specialised biological research materials, standards and reference reagents.
The Centre for AIDS Reagents was set up and funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) and the European Union (EU) through Programme EVA (European Vaccine Against AIDS) and is currently receiving support from the EU FP6 AIDS Vaccine Integrated Project (AVIP) and the European HIV Enterprise Consortium (Europrise), the FP7 Next Generation HIV-1 Immunogens Inducing Broadly Reactive Neutralising Antibodies (NGIN) integrated project and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Global HIV Vaccine Research Cryorepository (GHRC) which is part of the Collaboration for AIDS Vaccine Discovery (CAVD). The Centre for AIDS Reagents is a designated WHO-UNAIDS Collaborating Centre and houses an extensive collection of HIV primary isolates obtained through the WHO-UNAIDS Virus Network.
