NIBSC is responsible for production and implementation, through collaborative studies, of all major WHO International Standards and Ph Eur BRP required for quality control of tetanus vaccines. Current initiatives are replacement of established WHO IS for vaccine potency testing and production of a panel of new reference reagents for in an vitro assay of tetanus toxoid in combination vaccines.
