The MAPREC assay is an in vitro molecular assay used in poliovaccine batch release. The current method uses radioisotopes to achieve the sensitivity required. NIBSC is validating a sensitive non-radioisotope method which also allows the assay to be used in countries where the use of radioisotopes is restricted.
