NIBSC is responsible for production and implementation through collaborative studies of all major WHO International Standards and Ph Eur BRP required for quality control of diphtheria vaccines. Current initiatives are replacement of established WHO IS for vaccine potency testing and production of a panel of new reference reagents for the in vitro assay of diphtheria toxoid in combination vaccines.
