In 2004 the European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods organised a Task force to develop guidance on good cell culture practice. This was intended for use in a variety of laboratory settings, including academic an industrial laboratories, to promote the delivery of high quality laboratory data, based on the use of in vitro cell culture.  The resulting guidance was published in ATLA in 2005 and a copy is given in the link below
