This product does not fall under EU OCABR activity but every batch of botulinum toxin used in the UK is independently evaluated at NIBSC for potency using in vitro methods developed in house. No other OMCL laboratory has experience or technology to test these therapeutics and NIBSC is internationally recognised as a leading laboratory in developing alternative methods to the LD50 test for botulinum toxin potency testing. Several products are now licensed in Europe and include Type A and B toxins, which have undergone testing at NIBSC as part of CAP activity.
