Fibrin sealants are used in a wide range of surgical procedures to rapidly arrest bleeding and assist in subsequent wound healing. An artificial fibrin “scab” is formed over a wound by mixing the 2 main components of fibrin sealants, fibrinogen and thrombin.
During batch release of fibrin sealants we use the following standards to perform batch release testing.
| Code | Type of Standard |
|---|---|
| 98/614 | WHO International Standards (IS) for fibrinogen |
| 01/580 | WHO International Standards (IS) for Thrombin |
