What's happening at NIBSC

The National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) is a centre of the Health Protection Agency (HPA), and its mission is to assure the quality of biological medicines.

We offer:

Batch Release Customer Survey
If we have carried out batch release testing for your company the NIBSC invites you to participate in our “customer satisfaction survey”, your feedback is greatly valued to allow us to continually monitor and improve our services.
Product Customer Survey
If you are customer of NIBSC Reference Standards the NIBSC invites you to participate in our “customer satisfaction survey, your feedback is greatly valued to allow us to continually monitor and improve our services.
Swine Flu Update
NIBSC is now in receipt of two Influenza A(H1N1) virus samples isolated in California (obtained from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the USA) and one isolated in the UK and work on developing candidate vaccine viruses is ongoing.
Analytica
NIBSC will be attending Analytica (an international trade fair for analysis, laboratory-technology and biotechnology)

CJD Resource Centre

CJD Resource CentreThis project was set up to obtain characterised materials for studying and developing diagnostic tests for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD).

FluPan Resource CentreThe centre develops and provides viruses and reagents for seasonal and pandemic influenza vaccine production
 

UK Stem Cell Bank

UK Stem Cell BankThe Bank works with and for the scientific and clinical community to assure the quality of human stem cell lines used in research and therapy.

Centre for AIDS reagents

Centre for AIDS reagents Originally established in 1989 the facility has grown steadily and the repository now houses over 1900 reagents.
